She & Him – Why Do You Make Me Stay

I found this great band called She & Him on MySpace today.

She and Him are Zooey Deschanel and M. Ward. On their MySpace page they describe their style as Indie / Country / Pop.

The only song featured on their MySpace profile is “Why Do You Make Me Stay”. It is the second track on their album “Volume One”. On Merge Records home page you can listen to the first 30 seconds of all of the tracks [follow the magic link]. I’ve listened to all the tracks and I’m sad to report that although “Why Do You Make Me Stay” is a really great, fun and upbeat song, you probably will not enjoy the rest of the album all that much unless you are really into country music. There are a couple of tracks that sound OK, “Black Hole” and “Sweet Darlin’”, but even they probably won’t make you want to buy the album either.
